THE EFNIKS COVER STORY FOR november, on queer & trans people of color in geek culture and academia

THE EDITOR'S NOTE

Queer and trans people of color often find comfort in these twin spaces of Geek Culture and Academia. And we always have. But society has stamped us with stereotypes. In a broad sense, our modern existence is this struggle to find our place in critical and diverse aspects of the modern human experience--Black and Brown faces in white spaces, as they say; queer and trans identities in a very cis and hetero society; to be a woman in a man's world. But we can't overlook the significance of what it means to be QTPoC in those twin worlds of Geek Culture and Academia that are still so white, so hetero, so cisgender, so male.
