THE EFNIKS COVER STORY FOR OCTOBER, celebrating the beauty of people of color

Despite that much of the world is filled with people of color, it remains true that standards of beauty, of what it means to be attractive, are still dictated by measures that do not belong to people of color. But things have been changing. Because if others won't do it for us, we'll do it for ourselves. We're asserting our own standards to a world that doesn't value our beauty as much as we value it for ourselves. We'll love our eyes in front of that world. We'll relish our skin tones in spite of that world. We'll wear our styles, show off our smiles, walk with a confidence all our own, simply because we can do so in this world.
